The Calgary Stampede Cowboy Up Challenge is a multi-faceted, speed-oriented western equestrian sporting event that showcases a rider with their horse maneuvering together through a series of skill-testing obstacles. Each test on the course demonstrates the incredible horsemanship skills of the riders and the high level of partnership and trust held between horse and rider as they conquer each obstacle. Held in the Nutrien Western Event Center, this event continues to be the highest viewed and highest paying Extreme Cowboy Race in the World.
Our cowboys and cowgirls will be kicking off this lightning-fast competition with the first round of Extreme Cowboy Racing Thursday, July 11, with the pre-show starting at 6:30 p.m. and racing beginning at 7 p.m. We jump into Round Two on Friday, July 12, 6:30 p.m. pre-show, race at 7 pm. On the final Stampede Sunday, July 14, pre-show 6:30 p.m., gates crack for the exciting race-to-the-finish at 7 p.m. where it will be determined which cowgirl or cowboy will win the ultimate title of Cowboy Up Challenge Champion in a riveting clean-slate final round.
This is an invitational competition, limited to 10 elite riders who are selected to compete in a three go-round event.
