The Western Elite Bred Heifer Invitational

This invitational competition will invite Grand and Reserve Champion yearling heifers from shows across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan to compete to be "the best of the west". This show will provide more than $40,000 in cash, scholarships, and prizes to our youth.

Entries Open: May 1, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.

Entries Close: June 5, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. (Only exception are heifers from Summer Synergy)

$100 per entry (non-refundable)

INVITATIONAL: All those eligible to enter will be sent an official Calgary Stampede invitation.

Eligibility is limited to those who have achieved Champion or Reserve status in the specified Junior Shows (winning an Open Show does not qualify even if the exhibitor is between the ages of 9-21).

All entry fees will be allocated to prize money - GST not applicable.

Please note a few important pieces of information:

1. All heifer stalling will be allocated as you arrive, in the order you arrive. No special stalling requests will be accommodated. If you would like to be stalled with someone, please arrange to travel together or arrive at the same time. Arrival will be permitted on Thursday, July 9, Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11 between 6:00 - 9:00 a.m. ONLY. All heifers MUST be in the barns by Saturday, July 11, 2026. No early or late arrivals will be permitted (special arrangements will be made for those heifers arriving from Summer Synergy in Olds, AB.)

    

2. All heifer move outs will be arranged and directed by the Barn Boss. No move outs will be permitted outside of the schedule determined by the Barn Boss and Committee.

    

3. Entry forms must be received no later than June 5, 2026 as your acceptance to attend this show (only exception will be for the Summer Synergy Show).

    

4. If not enough individuals accept the invitation to attend the Western Elite Bred Heifer Invitational, invitations will be extended at the discretion of the Calgary Stampede Youth Livestock Sub-Committee.

    

5. OUT OF PROVINCE HEIFERS. Heifers originating from points outside of Alberta must arrive on transport documents according to the legislation of the jurisdiction they are leaving. This may require inspection in that jurisdiction, and a Livestock Permit to accompany the cattle to their destination. If possible, please bring three copies of the permit. Please reference the Entry Fees Tab for more detailed information on what would be required from various areas.

    

6. All exhibitors are responsible for providing their own neck rope for their heifer. All heifers must have a neck rope on and secured when the heifer is tied in their assigned stall in the barn. Heifers found to be without a neck rope at any time will result in immediate disqualification and forfeiture of all prize money and scholarships awarded to that entry.

    

7. Exhibitors MUST be present to care fore and maintain the heifer alleys or all prize money will be forfeited.

Class List:

All heifers will be shown by age. Classes will be split based on the age of the heifers per class to be determined by the Committee based on entries.

All prize money is payable in Canadian funds.

Grand Champion - Scholarship $12,000; Cash $5,000

Reserve Champion - Scholarship $6,000; Cash $2,500

Grand and Reserve will receive a Stampede Championship banner.
Grand Champion will receive the use of a Bar T5 stock trailer for 1 year.
