Extreme Cowboy Race Clinic & Demonstration

The Extreme Cowboy Race founded by famed horseman Craig Cameron is a multi-faceted equestrian sporting event that showcases both horse and rider as they maneuver through a series of obstacles demonstrating both their amazing horsemanship skills and incredible speed.

This Clinic & Demonstration will give participants an opportunity to explore this exciting new event and get prepared for the Calgary Stampede Cowboy Up Challenge, the premier Extreme Cowboy Race in Canada to be held in the Scotiabank Saddledome July 9-11 during the 2011 Calgary Stampede.

Everyone is invited to come down and discover this exciting new sport being showcased in the Corral in conjunction with Aggie Days, Stock Dog Trials & the Canadian Horseshoeing Championships

Clinic participants must participate in the Friday & Saturday sessions to be eligible to participate in the demonstration race on Sunday. Sunday demonstration race participation is optional.

Entry Fees: $300 per entry

*Participants will be divided into categories - Novice or Intermediate/Advanced

Rules and Regulations + View Details

Regulations:

1. Special attention is called to the Calgary Stampede General Rules and Conditions.
2. Clinic participants must participate in the Friday & Saturday sessions to be eligible to participate in the demonstration race on Sunday. Sunday demonstration race participation is optional.
3. Proper western dress is required, jeans, long sleeve western shirt, cowboy boots and cowboy hat (helmets are permisiable).
4. Order of go for the Demonstration Races will be decided by draw on Saturday, April 9, 2011 following the clinics.
5. Awards will be presented at the end of each competition on Sunday, April 10, 2011.
6. This event is open to horses of any breed registry and non-registered/grade horses.
7. Competitor information packages will be available for pick up from the Agriculture office after noon on Friday, April 8, 2011. For alternative pick-up or delivery arrangements please call (403) 261-0127.
8. The crowd at the event is considered to be part of the course, and each competitor acknowledges that the crowd may be a distraction to his/her horse.
9. There will be zero tolerance of any inhumane treatment of horses while in the show arena or on the show grounds. Any such action will be cause for disqualification and the forfeiture of all entry fees and any prize money. Inhumane treatment includes, but is not limited to, excessive jerking, pulling, kicking, slapping or whipping.
10. If entry is cancelled, all fees will be forfeited. Substitutions will be allowed for the following reasons only:

In the case of a disabling injury to the horse, the contestant must furnish a certificate from a qualified Veterinarian declaring the horse disabled and unable to compete. Such certificate must be in the hands of the Show management prior to the start of the contest.
In the case of a disabling injury to the rider, or serious sickness or death in his/her family, Show Management must be advised in writing prior to the start of the contest.

Judging Criteria:

Judging guidelines will be based on the Extreme Cowboy Association system.
