4-H Camp or Provincial 4-H Program Criteria
Must be entered in one or more events in the Youth Livestock Show.
Show enthusiasm, independence, getting along and working with others.
Overall attitude and behavior. Portray leadership skills.
In order to receive a Camp Award, Junior entrants must indicate on their Youth Show Entry form that they will accept such award selection
To be selected by volunteer committee members of the Internationa Youth Livestock Committee who have on going contact with entrants throughout the show. Each Committee member to come forward with their top recommendations.
Using the criteria listed above, each contestant will be eligible to cast a vote for a fellow competitor.
4-H Camp winners will be asked to supply a summary and/or photos of their trip.
INTERMEDIATE SCHOLARSHIPS Three (3) for $1000.00 Seven (7) for $500.00
Eligibility:
This award will be open to Intermediates (ages 12 - 14) years of age as of January 1st, 2008.
Participants must have competed in one of the following Conformation species sections:
Youth Livestock Beef Female, Dairy, Heavy Horse or Sheep
One of the following Showmanship classes: Beef, Dairy, Heavy Horse or Sheep
Youth Livestock Multi-Judging (all classes), Youth Livestock Marketing Competition.
GRAND BEEF AGGREGATE AWARDS
Categories & Awards Junior Beef Grand Aggregate receives a keeper award and recognition on the J. Chas Yule Memorial Trophy. Intermediate Beef Grand Aggregate receives a keeper award and recognition on the Michael Boyce Memorial Trophy. Senior Beef Grand Aggregate receives a keeper award and recognition on the D.E. Black Shield. The Aggregate perpetual trophies will remain on display in the International Room at the Calgary Stampede. These awards are designed to recognize overall achievement and participation in the Judging, Showmanship or Senior Herdsman Quiz and Conformation classes. Scoring To be eligible for these awards participants must compete in each of the three sections: Showmanship and Senior Herdsman Quiz, Conformation and Multi-Judging. Points will be determined by the placing of the participant in each section. In the event of a tie, the participant with the highest reasons score on the multi species judging will be declared the winner. If a tie still exists, the participant with the highest score in multi species placings will be declared the winner. If a tie still exists, the participant with the highest score in showmanship or the Herdsman Quiz will be declared the winner. If a tie still exists, the participant with the highest score in the conformation section will be declared the winner. If a tie still exists, the award will be shared. The top three Junior and Senior (based on the following ages: Junior (9 - 11) and Senior (15 - 20) as of January 1st, 2008) competitors in the Beef Aggregate will be invited to participate in the National Young Cattleman program.
$20,000 IN SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED Five (5) for $2,000 Ten (10) for $1,000
Eligibility:
This award will be open to Senior entrants 15 to 20 years of age as of January 1st, 2008.
Participants must have competed in one of the following sections: Youth Livestock Beef Female, Dairy, Heavy Horse or Sheep Conformation, plus Senior Herdsman Quiz, Showmanship, Youth Livestock Multi-Judging (all classes), Youth Livestock Marketing Competition.
Scoring Points will be determined by the actual placing by the participant in each section. The top entrants (ties will be broken by the multi-judging reasons score in the contestants species) will then advance to an interview before a panel of three judges. The scoring from this interview, combined with the participation scores will determine the winners. In the event of a tie, the monies in the tie positions will be split. Note: If a participant has entered more than one species (i.e. beef female, dairy, heavy horse and sheep) he/she may use the species with the highest points to be eligible for the Scholarship. Awards Scholarship recipients must be present for the group photo and Grandstand presentation in order to receive their Scholarship.
