North American Sheep Shearing Challenge 2009
North American Sheep Shearing Challenge
An even wilder and woollier affair is in the offing at this year’s Stampede.
The North American Sheep Shearing Challenge will adopt a new format during its three-day run, from July 3 to 5, at the Victoria Pavilion, as shearers from around the world will face off two at a time, trying to beat each other and the clock.
It’s a new wrinkle on an already very exciting spectacle, which sees the globe’s best professional sheep shearers trimming four sheep in less than six minutes.
The competition is intense, and these ba-a-a-a-a-rbers display exceptional skills.
Returning this year is the intermediate class, providing local semi-pro shearers an opportunity to sharpen their skills.
Competition runs daily from July 3 to 5 at noon, 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
