1. Special atttention is called to the Calgary Stampede General Rules and Conditions.
2. All steers and market heifers must be under control at all times without the use of humbugs, nose rings, or tail ties in the nose or the use of drugs.
3. Steers and market heifers with horns over two inches long will be disqualified from the competition.
4. A COMPLETED BRAND MANIFEST and BILL OF SALE must be submiteed to the scale clerk at the time of weigh-in for each steer and market heifer entered.
OUT OF PROVINCE steers and market heifers require a transport permit. This will be strictly enforced.
Each entry must have a CCIA tag, with that CCIA number recorded on the manifest.
The breed must be declared on the manifest at the time of weighing and tagging.
An INCOMPLETE MANIFEST or failure to present a BILL OF SALE will desqualify the steer for the carcass competition.
5. All steers and market heifers will be weighed Friday, July 10th, 2009 and this will be the official show weight.
6. All steers will be shown by breed as declared on the manifest at the time of weighing and tagging. Each steer can ONLY be entered in ONE CLASS, not a breed class and the open or junior class.
7. The committee reserves the right to reclassify any entries based on the absence of breed character and place in the Open class at their discretion.
8. Only sponsored classes will show as a breed and receive breed designation. All other steers will show in the sponsored Open class.
9. In sponsored breed classes, the Champion will receive $1000 and the Reserve Champion will receive $500.
10. Steer and market heifer classes will be split at 12 entries by the July 10, 2009 weight.
11. Steers and market heifers will enter the ring in ascending order by the July 10, 2009 weight.
12. All Champion and Reserve Champions will advance to the overall Championship.
13. All steers and market heifers must remain on Stampede Park for display purposes throughout Stampede.
14. The Calgary Stampede Steer Classic Committee, in cooperation with the North American Livestock Show and Rodeo Managers Association (NALSRMA), supports the National Code of Show Ring Ethics. The exhibitor of an animal identified as being unethically fitted or having been administered a prohibited substance will be disqualified and banned from future competition. All prizes will be forfeited and action may be taken to bar the exhibitor from future shows.
15. Steers and market heifers which have been identified by the Calgary Stampede Steer Classic Committee as being unethically fitted or surgically altered for cosmetic reasons will be disqualified from the show with the prize money and entry fee being forfeited. The Calgary Stampede Steer Classic Committee's decision will be final with no recourse or appeal.
16. PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE AND DRUG TESTING: Drugs administered to food producing animals must be approved for use in food producing animals in Canada and listed in one of the scheddules in THE FOOD AND DRUG ACT AND REGULATIONS.
The Calgary Stampede reserves the right to determine if there has been an alteration of an animal's physical appearence or physiological function. As a condition of participation in the Calgary Stampede, an exhibitor agrees to submit, at management's request, any animal entered for immediate testing for drugs and other substances not approved in THE FOOD AND DRUG ACT AND REGULATIONS. Blood, urine and tissue samples may be analyzed for prohibited residues. The exhibitor agrees that the analytical results are conclusive, without recourse to the Calgary Stampede.
Slaughter animals that are gound to have a drug residue exceeding the administrative tolerance established by THE MEAT INSPECTION ACT AND REGULATIONS (1990), will be disqualified and any prizes withheld. The exhibitor of an animal identified as having been administered a prohibited substance, will be disqualified and banned from future competition at the Calgary Stampede. All prized will be forfeited and the exhibitor is subject to other penalties imposed by the Calgary Stampede.
17. The Calgary Stampede Steer Classic Committee reserves the right to limit and regulate entries due to space restrictions.
18. Protests must be submitted in writing and accompanied by $100 by 8:00pm Saturday, July 11, 2009. The money will be forfeited if the protest is disallowed.
19. The Calgary Stampede Steer Classic Committee reserves the right to decide on any point covered or not covered by the above regulations.
20. Volunteers, Shareholders, Directors, Staff, and Sponsors of the Stampede may be entered as exhibitors/competitors.
