UFA Steer Classic 2009

Last Updated June 5, 2009

As the richest steer show in Canada, the United Farmers of Alberta (UFA) Steer Classic draws the best of the industry.  From 11 breed class winners, one will be crowned Grand Champion steer and earn $10,000 in prize money.

An event with more than a quarter-century of history, the UFA Steer Classic sees members of the beef industry congregate at the Stampede Big Top to promote and compete in everything from the merits of purebred genetics to the current trends in carcass and consumer demands. The NUFLOR Market Heifer show, brought to you by Intervet Schering Plough, is an added class, as is the Junior Class, for youth aged 9 through 20 as of Jan. 1, 2009.

As an added incentive, the champion steer from the Lloydminster Steer Show is eligible for an additional $5,000 in prize money, should it be declared the Stampede’s Grand Champion — making for a potential two-show aggregate payday of $20,000.
